Earlier this month, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
(CMS) transmitted a Report to Congress as required by Section 20301 of the
Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA) of 2018. The Report outlines steps taken by
Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) to meet the
specific criteria and related timelines as a condition to receive disaster
relief funding in the wake of Hurricane Maria. The BBA requires both Puerto
Rico and the USVI to meet certain milestones in order for CMS to release
certain additional Medicaid funding to Puerto Rico and USVI. This will
ensure that both jurisdictions continue the work underway and make progress
in meeting the remaining milestones.
