From the story: Mitch McConnell called into Fox News to emphasize that the federal
government has an obligation to help state and local governments with their
COVID-19 efforts, not “rescuing them from bad decisions they’ve made in the
past.” Rather than bloc-grant aid to states, McConnell hinted that the aid will
specifically target pandemic-related tasks (Hot Air).
From Ed Morrissey: If McConnell
can stick to his guns on this, then it will demonstrate just how little Chuck
Schumer and Nancy Pelosi actually won over the last two weeks in the fight to
replenish the Paycheck Protection Program (Twitter).
From the Wall Street Journal: Congress is
passing its fourth coronavirus relief bill this week, and already Democrats are
teeing up the fifth. The main goal this time will be to bail out state
governments, especially those run by Democrats and their allies in public
unions. The question to ask is why taxpayers in Appleton and Sarasota should
rescue politicians and unions in Albany and Springfield? (WSJ).
