Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will issue more than...
...$100 million in rebates to its
fully insured members, spurred by the COVID-19 crisis. The rebates will vary by
product line, with small group customers (fewer than 50 employees) seeing 30%
credits on their July premiums, and Medicare Advantage members seeing a 15%
premium refund for March and April (excluding those enrolled in $0 premium
plans). BCBS Michigan is the fourth-largest Blues affiliate in the U.S.,
serving 4,617,947 members, with 49% enrolled in risk-based plans. More than 98%
of its total members are Michigan residents, but the insurer also has a modest
Medicare Advantage presence in several other states, most notably Florida and
Indiana.
