Oscar Health and Cleveland Clinic will expand their co-branded
insurance product into three more Ohio counties, the two announced Thursday.
The Cleveland Clinic + Oscar plans are available on the state’s
Affordable Care Act exchanges, and first launched in 2018.
The joint insurance plan is Cleveland Clinic’s first foray into health
coverage with a plan branded under its name.
The plans offer 24/7 telemedicine, access to Oscar’s tech
platforms and assistance from a care team to help members navigate the health
system. Rates are still under review by regulators, with ACA open
enrollment set to begin on Nov. 1.
“Oscar’s partnership with Cleveland Clinic clearly demonstrates
what’s possible when payers and providers align,” Mario Schlosser, CEO of
Oscar, said in a statement.
Schlosser said that Oscar’s plan design, including its concierge
teams, free up Cleveland Clinic’s providers to “focus on patient care
above all else.”
“Using an innovative approach, this partnership allows patients
to easily navigate the healthcare and health insurance system while receiving
the highest quality of care to improve their overall health,” Doug Chaet, chief
managed care officer at Cleveland Clinic, said.
It’s been a year of growth for Oscar, with the news that these
co-branded plans will reach new areas the latest in a list of expansion
announcements.
Perhaps most notably, Oscar announced that it will launch its first-ever
Medicare Advantage plans in 2020, beginning in Houston and New
York, with the latter plan co-branded with Montefiore Health System.
Oscar unveiled plans to enter the MA sector in the summer of
2018 after it secured a $375 million investment from Alphabet, Google’s parent
company.
Oscar also announced in August that it intends to expand its ACA
exchange plans into six new states and 12 new markets, marking the third year
in a row that the startup health plan has grown its ACA footprint.
