The
National Association of Insurance Commissioners is terminating its Insure U
consumer education website.
Since
its 2006 launch, Insure U has featured public service announcements, consumer
alerts, news releases, mobile apps and games, along with integrated social
media campaigns, in order to help consumers understand difficult topics.
Regulators
are working to duplicate some of the life insurance buyer's guide consumer
information online. So that will cover much of the same consumer-focused
material included on Insure U, NAIC officials said.
During
a Life Insurance Online Guide Working Group conference call Monday, NAIC
officials said the decision to terminate Insure U was part of an overall
"rebranding effort" led by Communications Director Laura Kane.
Reached
via email after the call, Kane confirmed that Insure U is no more. Visitors to
www.insureuonline.org are greeted by a message inviting them to visit a main
NAIC webpage with educational content about insurance.
"We
are integrating that information into the NAIC consumer pages to create a more
robust section at naic.org," Kane said via email. "The NAIC pages
include the ability to locate unclaimed life insurance benefits, review
complaints on insurance companies and file a complaint directly from our pages."
