Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) has received increased attention as studies suggest that SCD is associated with the risk of future cognitive decline and dementia. The presence or absence of SCD cannot determine whether someone will develop dementia. Nonetheless, it can be a starting point for clinicians, policymakers, and caregivers to prioritize and plan.  It can also be a valuable tool for researchers in conducting individual clinical studies to ensure optimal groups are reached and help inform healthcare providers' decisions about initiating cognitive assessments, managing other conditions among those with memory problems, and more.   Read the study to discover how SCD population-level data can help healthcare providers, policymakers, and public health professionals identify future risks for dementia, along with planning and identifying disparities among populations in cognitive decline.
