Today, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a CMCS Informational Bulletin to provide guidance to state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) agencies on a new process for certain key state submissions to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

These submissions include certain Medicaid state plan amendments (SPAs), CHIP SPAs, 1915(b) waiver actions, and Appendix K 1915(c) waiver amendments that are not already submitted through an electronic platform.  Effective February 1, 2022, state officials are asked to adjust their processes for submitting these actions in accordance with this Bulletin to ensure that they are received and processed timely by CMS.
