Funding bills move in the Senate

Congressional work continues during August recess, with the Senate passing a two-bill appropriations package (Labor-HHS and Defense) last week by an 87-2 vote. They provide two-thirds of FY19 federal spending, including level funding for many aging services and funding to begin implementing the Supporting Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Act enacted last month. Agriculture Committee leadership continues to work on a compromise Farm Bill, but remain far apart on their respective approaches to SNAP work requirements.
