DCHHS holds mosquito season press conference

West Nile survivor Sean Lemoine shares his story of survival after nine years of recovery

WHAT:   

DCHHS kicks off mosquito season urging residents to prepare by doing their part to 
prevent mosquito borne illness. Dallas County Health Authority Dr. Christopher Perkins
provides a clinical update explaining the impact West Nile has on dozens lives each
year. This season, West Nile survivor Sean Lemoine shares his experience of the severe
impact West Nile neuroinvasive disease has had on his life. Entomologist and Mosquito
Control Manager Scott Sawlis explains Dallas County’s comprehensive mosquito control
surveillance for the 2018 mosquito season to help combat West Nile, dengue and
chikungunya. Scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. on March 30, the conference also a includes an opportunity to collect b-roll footage of BG Sentinel and Gravid mosquito traps which bait and collect mosquito species capable of disease transmission.
