The state's legislature voted to expand Medicaid in 2017, but the move was vetoed by current Governor Sam Brownback (R). Kansas currently serves 399,000 Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries. Expansion would make an additional 150,000 people eligible for coverage, a potential 38% increase.
