The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is releasing its first issue brief that features states’ Medicaid Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) application processing time data from February through April 2018. This issue brief serves as a companion to the monthly Medicaid and CHIP applications, eligibility and enrollment reports. The release of these data is consistent with the agency’s goals of increased accountability and transparency in Medicaid. These MAGI application processing time data demonstrate significant strides made by states in recent years to streamline the eligibility and enrollment processes, as well as invest in technology to reduce burden on state staff and applicants.
