Meeting on potential 1332 State Innovation Waivers

TDI will have a stakeholder meeting on potential 1332 State Innovation Waivers from 1-4 p.m. March 30 in Room 100, of the Hobby Building, 333 Guadalupe, Austin. TDI is seeking public input on options for a possible Texas waiver application.
Section 1332 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) permits a state to apply for a State Innovation Waiver (also referred to as a State Relief and Empowerment Waiver) to pursue innovative strategies to provide access to high quality, affordable health insurance while retaining the basic protections of the ACA. To qualify, waiver plans must:
  • Provide access to quality health care that is at least as comprehensive and affordable as would be provided absent the waiver.
  • Provide coverage to a comparable number of residents of the state as would be provided coverage absent a waiver.
  • Not increase the federal deficit.
Those who wish to speak at the meeting are encouraged to submit written comments in advance to facilitate a meaningful discussion. If you plan to attend, please email GovernmentRelations@tdi.texas.gov by 5 p.m. March 23 and include if you or a designee of your organization plans to testify and a copy of your comments.
A live audio webcast of the meeting will be available.
