Insurers support relief efforts after Hurricane Ian

Health insurance providers are donating to disaster relief funds, providing emergency support services and introducing flexibility to health plans to help people affected by Hurricane Ian in Florida. Humana, for instance, will waive prior authorizations and primary care referral requirements for affected members, offer a free crisis support hotline and reimburse for out-of-network care at in-network rates for the duration of the disaster, while Aetna will offer phone-based mental health assistance, expand eligibility for its Resources for Living program and offer 10-day emergency drug refills.
