Nebraska Women Veterans Symposium |
|||
The State of Nebraska held its first ever Women Veterans
Symposium this past weekend in Kearney. Women veterans from across the state
came to listen to presenters from the VA and other veteran organizations talk
about resources and benefits available to veterans. They also participated in
art and wellness activities, and chatted with exhibitors who had booths set
up at the symposium. Thank you to everyone who attended the symposium, and
thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible for Nebraska’s
women veterans. A full album of photos is available to view on our Flickr and Facebook pages. |

2022 Veterans’ Welcome Home Picnic |
|||
On September 7, Governor Pete Ricketts hosted the 2022
Veterans Welcome Home Picnic at the Governor’s Residence in Lincoln. Service
members who have discharged over the past year were invited, along with their
families, to attend the backyard picnic with food, games, and exhibitor
tables from Nebraska veteran service organizations, State of Nebraska
recruiters, and others. In total, over 150 people attended the event, which
was co-hosted by NDVA and Walmart. A variety of veterans’ service
organizations were at the event to share information on benefits for veterans
and their family members, opportunities for networking and veteran
organization membership, and resources for veteran employment. Capital Humane
Society attended with two dogs to help promote the Vets Get Pets program,
which provides funds to help veterans adopt companion animals. |
