The
URL Builder is a tool that will add tracking code to any URL you enter
into the tool. Most importantly, you can add the medium, or marketing
channel, to your URL to specifically tell Analytics how to categorize
the traffic.
That
means you can use the URL Builder to create a tracking URL for your
email campaign and every time a subscriber clicks the link to visit
your website, Google Analytics will correctly consider that traffic to
be from your Email Marketing.
If
you’re not using the URL Builder, then your Channels report is not as
accurate as it should be. I recommend making it a habit to use the URL
Builder every time you need to create a link for your marketing.
Now
that your Channel report is accurate, it’s time to add conversion
tracking…
Track Conversions Per Channel
A
conversion could be a lead from a webform, a sale from your e-commerce
store, or even a phone call if you’re using phone call tracking
software.
To
set up a Goal, go to the Admin section of Google Analytics, then click
on Goals in the right column and follow the steps to add a Goal.
