Wall Street Journal: The Bank of England raised its key interest rate by a quarter
percentage point Thursday, a fresh sign that policy makers around the world are
determined to press down on inflation despite strains in the banking system.
Policy makers said the U.K.’s banking system “remains resilient,” and warned
they may need to raise the key rate again (Wall Street Journal).
CNN: The Bank of England has now raised interest rates at each of its rate-setting meetings since December 2021. The European Central Bank, the US Federal Reserve and the Swiss National Bank have also raised interest rates in the past week (CNN).
