Letter From The Chairwoman— Honoring Veterans During the Month of March

The month of March is full of opportunities to celebrate Texas Veterans including March 29th, National Vietnam Veterans Day, and Match 25th, Medal of Honor Day.

As we end the month of March, I encourage all Texans to reflect upon the selflessness and bravery of our Vietnam Veterans and Medal of Honor recipients and how we may better serve them and all Texas Veterans.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day

The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) salutes all those who served in Vietnam during the period of the Vietnam War, from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. The Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that today there are more than 7 million U.S. Vietnam veterans living in America and abroad, along with 10 million families of those who served during this timeframe. If you know someone who served in this war, express your thanks and your appreciation for his or her honorable service.

The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) salutes all those Military Working Dogs (MWDs) and their handlers on this K-9 Veterans Day. The VLB is happy to provide any needed help for these American heroes. The mission for the VLB is “to ensure that we offer the very best package of Veterans benefits in the country and those of us who work for the VLB strive to meet those goals every day.

Voices of Veterans: Binabrenda Broussard

BinaBrenda Broussard joined the U.S. Army right after high school graduation in 2009. She served as a Petroleum Supply Specialist and deployed to Korea in 2013. Mrs. Broussard received the Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal, among others. After the service, Mrs. Broussard became a Veteran Business Owner, opening her art studio, Oasis Gallery. Mrs. Broussard now resides in Carrollton, Texas.
