Dear
Friend,
As the country’s leading champion of lung health, the American Lung
Association puts the well-being and health of our nationwide
community first and foremost. We have been closely monitoring the
spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), following guidance from the
Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO),
state and local health departments and our medical experts
throughout this emerging public health situation.
We are working to minimize the risk to all, especially those with
lung disease or an impaired immune system. We are taking extra
measures to postpone all Lung Association organized meetings and
events nationwide through April 30, 2020. Wherever possible we have
adapted our mission delivery to a virtual or remote activation. We
are limiting non-essential travel in accordance with health and
safety guidelines and our staff will telecommute until March 31. We
will continue to be available to deliver our mission work during
this lung health crisis. Our top priority is the health and
well-being of all, and we are acting with an abundance
of caution.
As this situation unfolds, we will continue to closely monitor CDC
and WHO
guidance. We urge all Americans, especially those at higher risk,
to take all reasonable precautions to protect their health. We will
continue to share important
information on lung.org and through our Facebook,
Instagram
and Twitter
platforms. We also offer you the respiratory expertise available at
no cost through the Lung HelpLine (1-800-586-4872).
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support as we
navigate and reach a healthy resolution to this evolving
situation together.
In good health,
Harold P. Wimmer
National President and CEO
American Lung Association
