Webinar 5/20: Locating Community-Based Resources

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation's Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) is offering a free webinar on the services of the Aging and Disability Networks including n4a and the Eldercare Locator.
People with spinal cord injury and paralysis are likely to need community-based services and supports offered through the aging and disability networks available in nearly every community in the U.S. This webinar includes an overview of the services provided by the aging services network that are currently used by people with spinal cord injury (health/wellness programs, caregiver support, in-home assistance, case management, transportation, home modification and legal services). Also covered is the role of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) and the Eldercare Locator in connecting people with critical resources to live independently in their own communities.
Presenter: Hosted by Sara Tribe Clark, Director of the Eldercare Locator, which is administered by n4a and is a public service of the U.S. Administration for Community Living. Prior to her work at the Eldercare Locator Sara spent five years transforming the District of Columbia’s Aging and Disability Resource Center into an efficient No Wrong Door access point for older adults and people with disabilities and focused on building strong partnerships with the Department of Disability Services, DC’s Department of Health Care Finance (DC Medicaid), DC Adult Protective Services, and the community-based organizations that comprised DC’s Aging and Disability Services Network. She got her start in the field of Aging and Disability services in the Boston area, working at several Aging Service Access Points between 2002 – 2010.

ACL funds the Paralysis Resource Center to provide comprehensive information for people living with spinal cord injury, paralysis and mobility-related disabilities and their support networks. Resources include information and referral by phone and email in multiple languages including Spanish; a peer and family support mentoring program; a military and veterans program; multicultural outreach services; quality of life grants; and a national website.
