Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an Informational Bulletin describing the roles and responsibilities, required under existing statute and regulation, of the state Medicaid (and, if applicable, CHIP) agency and the HHS Appeals Entity (CMS Office of Hearings and Inquiries) and provides technical assistance related to coordination of appeals among insurance affordability programs in states that have elected for the Federally-Facilitated Exchange (FFE) to make an assessment of eligibility for Medicaid and CHIP.
