Today the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released an informational bulletin to remind states about their obligations and responsibilities under the Medicaid Provider Reassignment final rule issued on May 2, 2019, which clarified the federal requirements for state Medicaid provider payments made to third parties and took effect on July 5, 2019.
CMS will create a process for states to assure that payments are made in accordance with the statute and will monitor for adherence with the final rule. We remind states of their responsibility to ensure the proper and efficient administration of their Medicaid program.
