TDI reminds insurers of consumer credit score exceptions

The Texas Department of Insurance has issued a bulletin to remind insurers of legal protections for consumers whose credit scores have been hurt by certain events, including temporary job loss or major illness. In these cases, the carrier may consider only credit information not affected by the event or must assign a neutral credit score. TDI also encourages insurers to accept verbal requests for credit exceptions.
