The public expects healthcare leaders to be visible.

What we are hearing: Public Opinion Strategies released new research last week showing that Americans trust healthcare providers and public health officials far more than anyone else when it comes to information regarding the coronavirus. Eighty-eight percent, according to the study, trust medical and health professionals, eclipsing event the CDC at eighty-two percent.

Communications takeaway: Widespread public trust of healthcare providers presents an opportunity for health systems and their leadership to be more proactive in sharing their message publicly. Health systems should leverage leadership and clinicians to hold regular media briefings, short-form videos for social media, and regular forums via live streaming platforms to answer questions from the public or staff.
