Webinar 6/25:
Women's Mental Health After Paralysis
New to the world of paralysis? Struggling with the mental or
emotional adjustment? The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Paralysis
Resource Center (PRC) will be hosting a free webinar addressing the impact
that spinal cord injury or the onset of paralysis from other conditions can
have on a woman's mental health, including the occurrence of
depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and loneliness.
The webinar’s presenters will discuss ways to improve and
maintain mental health by exploring how to practice self-care, increase the
positives in life, work to enhance self-esteem, combat negative thoughts,
and foster strong, healthy social connections. At the end of this
webinar, attendees will be able to identify the impact of spinal cord
injury and paralysis on women’s mental health; understand the importance of
good mental health; and gain tools to improve their mental health.
ACL funds the Paralysis Resource Center to provide
comprehensive information for people living with spinal cord injury,
paralysis and mobility-related disabilities and their support networks.
Resources include information and referral by phone and email in multiple
languages including Spanish; a peer and family support mentoring program; a
military and veterans program; multicultural outreach services; quality of
life grants; and a national website.
