National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Financing Health and Wellness Programs Toolkit

NRPA has a new resource, Financing Health and Wellness Programs: A Toolkit for Park and Recreation Professionals, developed with CDC support. It outlines key strategies for park and recreation agencies to secure funding for Arthritis-Appropriate Evidence Based Interventions and other physical activity and self-management education programs.

NRPA Remote Delivery Best Practices Guide

With the support of CDC, NRPA examined the benefits of remotely delivering programs that help improve physical activity and chronic disease management for adults with arthritis, including those who are socially isolated and those needing to participate virtually in programs during the pandemic. The effort resulted in a best practice guide, Remote Physical Activity Programs for Older Adults: A Guide to Planning and Implementation

Osteoarthritis (OA) Lunch and Learn Webinar "Expanding the Arthritis Appropriate Evidence-Based Intervention (AAEBI) Menu”

The recorded January 19th Lunch and Learn webinar with Ellen Schneider, MBA, Associate Director of Policy & Strategic Alliances, UNC Center for Aging and Health, is now available on the OAAA’s YouTube channel and on the OAAA website (with the transcript). Ms. Schneider managed the national process to review programs for potential recognition as arthritis-appropriate evidence-based interventions. This process was led by the OAAA and funded by CDC.

OA Action Alliance–Health Care Professionals Action Brief

 

The OA Action Alliance, Arthritis Foundation, and CDC partnered to create a series of sector-specific action briefs based on A National Public Health Agenda for Osteoarthritis: 2020 Update.

This call to action for health care professionals includes information and links to resources on effectively supporting OA prevention and management. It encourages health care professionals to expand their knowledge about OA and related clinical care guidelines, earn continuing education credits, encourage physical activity, make referrals to proven interventions, support patients in participating group programs, and promote injury prevention.

New Resources on OACareTools 

 

The OA Action Alliance has expanded its OACareTools for preventing and managing osteoarthritis to include 21 new tools and resources for employer representatives, primary care health care providers, and employees with osteoarthritis.
