Five Issues Keeping Economists Up At Night
As the war rages on and continues to fuel immense economic
uncertainty, Ilaria Maselli and Klaas de Vries of the ESF Center outline five issues that are top of
mind for Chief Economists: 1) inflation will be higher for longer; 2) elevated
input prices and shortages may halt the production of some goods; 3) neutrality
is no longer an asset, as investors and employees are becoming more vocal about
the reputational risk of doing business in autocratic countries; 4) politics
will lead to a fragmented world; and 5) the risk of recession is rising in the
US.
