Today,
the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its fourth
Medicaid Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) and Children’s Health
Insurance Program (CHIP) Application Processing Time Report. This
report shows the average number of calendar days that elapsed between the
date the state agency received an initial application and the date a final
MAGI eligibility determination was made.
The
data included in this brief represents states’ Medicaid and CHIP
eligibility and enrollment activity for the February through April 2021 period,
and was submitted to CMS by state Medicaid and CHIP agencies as part of the
Medicaid and CHIP Eligibility and Enrollment Performance Indicators
process. Nationally, among the 48 states reporting data to CMS’
specifications for February-April 2021, more than 51 percent of MAGI
determinations at application were completed in under 24 hours. Nearly 71
percent were completed in less than 7 days.
