At long last, Moderna said Wednesday that it plans to ask US regulators
to approve two shots of its vaccine for children aged 6 months to 5 years. But
at one-quarter of the strength of the adult shots, the regimen will offer
children only moderate protection from infection, my colleague
Ryan Cross reported.
Still, the move could mean that relief is near for families with young children
who have been anticipating the
doses for months. Parents are waiting to hear about the future
of the Pfizer vaccine, too. That regimen for kids under 5 is delayed until at
least April, while the Food and Drug Administration reviews data
for a potential third dose.
If you’re a parent to an infant or toddler, the Globe wants to hear
your thoughts about the Moderna announcement.
