Sleep joins revamped list of heart health essentials

The new Life's Essential 8™ is an encouraging and easier-to-understand way to help people track cardiovascular health. Life’s Essential 8 cardiovascular health score replaces Life’s Simple 7®, according to a new Presidential Advisory.

Sleep duration is now considered an essential component for ideal heart and brain health. Adults should aim for an average of 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Too little or too much sleep can be harmful. Learn more.
