CDC’s funding opportunity for the BOLD Public Health Centers of Excellence to Address Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (CDC-RFA-DP20-2005) is now available to fulfill the aim of the Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act (P.L. 115-406).

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to establish Public Health Centers of Excellence (PHCOE) to support public health agencies nationally in implementing the Healthy Brain Initiative State and Local Public Health Partnerships to Address Dementia: The 2018–2023 Road Map and Road Map for Indian Country, the Road Map series.

PHCOEs will provide public health expertise in one of three specific topics areas:

1. Caregiving for people with dementia.
2. Reducing the risk for dementia.
3. Improving early dementia detection and diagnosis.

PHCOE activities will align directly with actions in the Road Map series. Recipients will focus on identifying, translating and disseminating promising research findings and evidence-informed best practices, including those that address social determinants of health, for nationwide, systematic public health uptake by state, local, tribal and other public health programs. PHCOEs will collaborate with CDC, state, local, and tribal health entities, and other national partners to ensure maximum reach and impact.
