Outreach and Enrollment Strategies to Reach Rural Communities

Tuesday, July 31, 2018
1:00 p.m - 2:30 p.m. EDT
As parents get their children prepared for the new school year, purchasing new classroom supplies and Families living in rural communities are disproportionately uninsured compared to those from urban and suburban areas across the country. They can face many barriers to ensuring proper health coverage, including language disparities, low literacy rates, and limited access to enrollment assistance in programs such as Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The Connecting Kids to Coverage National Campaign works closely with partners and community-based organizations who specialize in conducting outreach specifically in rural communities, helping eligible families overcome these barriers and gain access to Medicaid and CHIP.

Join us on Tuesday, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. ET as we take a closer look at health care in Rural America, featuring representatives from national and local partner organizations who specialize in rural health outreach and enrollment, as they share proven strategies and best practices for reaching eligible families in rural communities.

Speakers include:

John Hammarlund, Regional Administrator, CMS
Dr. Cara James, Director, CMS Office of Minority Health (OMH)
Renée Bouvion, MPH, Acting Regional Health Administrator, & LT Jesus Reyna, RN, LCDR, Regional Minority Health Consultant (RMHC), Region X, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH)
