Are you eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid? A Dual Special Needs Plan, or a DSNP, can offer additional benefits and features.
Not enrolling in a DSNP might mean missing out on plan benefits
such as vision, dental, and transportation to appointments. DSNP members with a
plan from UnitedHealthcare also may be able to get another benefit: a debit
card with up to $1000 in over the counter products from Walgreens. There’s no
extra cost if you’re enrolled in one of these plans. You can use this card to
get approved health care items you may use every day.
How Does It Work?
It’s easy. DSNP members can receive up $1000 on the card
to buy approved items either from a catalog or at Walgreens. This includes:
- Over-the-counter
medications
- Vitamins
and supplements
- Leg
and foot care products
- Things
for the home like scales, thermometers, and blood pressure monitors
- Toothbrushes
and toothpaste
- Bath safety
products like mats and shower benches and more.
If you’re at your local Walgreens store, look for the “APPROVED
OTC” label on the price tag. If making a trip to the store is hard, you can
also use the product catalog. The catalog offers lots of products and there’s
no extra cost for shipping or taxes. What’s more, you can get what you want by
ordering online, with a toll-free number, or by mail.
Where You Can Get the Debit Card?
This benefit card is available for some dual special needs plans
in Florida, Texas, Washington, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin,
Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, and Delaware. Do you want to learn more? Go to getdual.com.
Plans are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance company or
one of its affiliated companies, a Medicare Advantage organization with a
Medicare contract and a contract with the State Medicaid Program. Enrollment in
the plan depends on the plan’s contract renewal with Medicare.
