Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, has named WellCare Health Plans, Inc. one of 2019’s 50 most community-minded companies in America. This is the third consecutive year our company has made the coveted list, which is based on The Civic 50 annual survey.
We are honored to have received awards for our member programs, but we are as equally proud of recognition like this for our corporate social responsibility. Being community-minded is emphatically a WellCare business imperative and who we are as a company. This is a point of pride for our WellCare associates. The company is committed to support individuals in their community service throughout the year, and it shows in their high job performance and commitment to our members.

As a member of The Civic 50, we are part of a giving-conscious group of public and private companies selected based on four dimensions of their U.S. community engagement program: investment, integration, institutionalization and impact.
The Civic 50 provides a national standard for superior corporate citizenship and showcases how companies can use their time, skills and resources to impact their communities. We demonstrated our 2018 philanthropic contributions by:
- Investing more than $1 million in the communities it serves through the WellCare Community Foundation;
- Connecting more than 51,000 community members to nearly 195,000 social services across the country through WellCare’s Community Connections program; and,
- Volunteering more than 40,000 hours, representing a 76% corporate volunteer rate among the company’s employees – more than double the national average.
I can’t say this enough. I am humbled to be part of a passionate team that is driven to improve the communities we serve, while also helping our members live better, healthier lives. WellCare truly goes beyond healthcare.
