Tufts Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care last week released a...
...letter of intent to merge their organizations, including health
insurance plans that combined would enroll more than 2.1 million people in
Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Officials
from both insurers said the deal will allow the new company to mitigate the
rising costs of health care and offer more, higher-quality insurance products.
Tufts Health Plan currently serves 1,112,277 lives, to Harvard Pilgrim's
1,011,249.
