Federal pool of COVID money grows smaller

The federal bipartisan package to provide fresh spending to combat COVID-19 could shrink to $10 billion from $15.6 billion just earlier this month. That translates into less money to purchase vaccines, treatments, and tests, which the Biden administration says are running low, even as the more transmissible Omicron variant BA.2 spreads worldwide.

In the meantime, the White House has launched covid.gov, a federal website meant to help Americans who are infected with the virus find the treatment they need quickly and at no cost.
