More than 20,000 veterans removed from military earplugs lawsuit over missing documents

District Judge M. Casey Rodgers of the Northern District of Florida, Pensacola Division, ordered the dismissals as roughly 270,000 similar cases are still pending. The group of lawsuits against earplug manufacturer 3M has become the largest multidistrict litigation in U.S. history, according to court records.

Navy seaman from Iowa killed at Pearl Harbor in WWII identified, to be buried in hometown

David F. Tidball, 20, a seaman first class, was on the USS Oklahoma, which sustained multiple torpedo hits, causing it to capsize. His body recently was identified by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, and he will be buried at 1 p.m. Saturday in Independence, Iowa.

72 years after his death in Korean War, soldier to be buried in Ohio

U.S. Army Pfc. Chauncey (William) J. Sharp was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was reported killed in action July 24, 1950, at age 18, after his unit sustained heavy casualties while defending against the North Korean army's advance near Hwanggon, South Korea.

A World War II veteran and longtime deputy chief of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, Frederick Steinkirchner died April 16 after a series of cardiac problems. At 109 years old, he was one of the 10 oldest men in America.
