This session will discuss the challenges of caregiving in
Indian Country, showcase efforts of the International Association for
Indigenous Aging (IA2) in the area of Alzheimer’s disease and
related dementias, and feature tribal aging resources from IA2.
Objectives:
- Provide an overview of
the national Healthy Brain Initiative
- Discuss a project funded
by the U.S. Department of Justice to prevent tribal elders with
dementia from wandering
- Highlight the Dementia
Friends program for American Indian and Alaska Native communities
