Chicago Police Union Pushing Back Against Vaccine Mandates That Would Sideline Half of Department

Spencer Brown: Included in Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s mandate is the city’s police force, but the union president representing them is calling for officers to defy the requirement to submit their vaccination status to the city of by midnight Friday. City employees — including police officers — who do not attest to their vaccine status by the deadline will be placed on unpaid leave unless Lightfoot alters her mandate (Townhall). 

PJ Media: The Chicago police officers who are still working after all the force has been through in recent years do so because of something more than fealty to a union or a political leader. The “real police” among them will be on the job because their community and their brothers and sisters on the force are counting on them. That doesn’t help Lightfoot, who may be scrambling to protect the city on Monday (PJ Media).
