Vybe
urgent care, one of the region's largest independent urgent care centers
operators, opened its newest facility in the Spring Garden section of the city.
The
center at 1500 Spring Garden St., next to Community College of Philadelphia, is
Vybe's sixth in the city and eighth overall.
It
joins the company's other sites in Center City, South Philadelphia, University
City, Port Richmond, Roxborough, Havertown and Ridley Park.
Urgent
care centers are designed to provide care to patients with health conditions
that are not life-threatening, but require immediate attention. The centers
typically see patients with a variety of injuries and illness, and also serve
as sites for physical exams and occupational health and workers’ compensation
treatments.
Vybe
was founded in 2016 by health care entrepreneur Peter Hotz,
the company's president. The company raised $12.2 million last year from New
Spring Health Capital and the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine to fund its expansion plans.
Hotz
said the company expects to open five more centers this fall. He could not
disclose the specific locations, but said there will be "several more in
the city and a few in the suburbs."
Commenting
on the new Spring Garden site, Hotz said, "We look forward to serving the
diverse health care needs of this growing community. While consumers typically
rely upon urgent care centers for accessible, affordable and immediate
healthcare service, Vybe is committed to creating a truly patient-focused
atmosphere that eases the stress that comes with an illness or injury."
The
center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on the weekends.
