Joint Statement on Nursing Home Aide Training

On January 2, 2020, the Center for Medicare Advocacy and the Long Term Community Care Coalition issued a joint statement condemning proposed legislation that would weaken nurse aide training requirements. The two bills would weaken current law. Each would allow for a shorter period of prohibition of facility-conducted nurse aide training programs, and for lifting that prohibition before the current two year time period for facilities that were previously found to have too few licensed nurses or care deficiencies that led to the imposition of civil money penalties.
