— has hired Kerri Balbone to be the chief operating officer for Health
Net of California and California Health & Wellness.
Balbone previously was the chief operating
officer of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of California.
She has been, and still is, a public safety
commissioner for the city of West Hollywood, California.
Balbone took over from Bob O’Brien, who is
retiring.
Brian Ternan continues to be president and
chief executive officer of Health Net of California and California Health &
Wellness. Health Net has about 3 million enrollees in California.
Balbone has a bachelor’s degree in health
systems management from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in
business from Sacred Heart University.
She got her start in health insurance as an
operations manager at Oxford Health Plans.
She’s been working in health insurance in
California since 2007.

Protective Life Corp., Birmingham, Alabama, has hired Doyle
Williams to be senior vice president, distribution companies.
Williams will oversee Protective’s three
distribution companies: ProEquities, Protective Distributors and First
Protective Insurance Group.
Williams has a bachelor’s degree in business
from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in business
Williams previously was chief enterprise
strategy consultant for Country Financial Group. He is an LL Global board
member.
Libet Anderson, who has been the interim
president at ProEquities, will become president of ProEquities.
She has a bachelor’s degree in economics from
Middlebury College.
Anderson is a board member for the Investments
& Wealth Institute, and for Magic Moments, a wish-granting organization
focused on helping children in Alabama with chronic illnesses.
IPipeline, Exton, Pennsylvania — a life insurance and financial
services software company — has hired Kevin Baer to be chief people officer.
Baer previously was a founding partner
at Mpact Leadership Coaching.
He also has been an executive at Continental
Airlines Travel University, Got-A-Job.com, Corestaff Staffing, and Sales
Performance International.
He has a bachelor’s degree in education and
communications from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
AdminaHealth, Greenwich, Connecticut — a company
that provides employee benefits premium billing services through the
internet — has hired Joan Asher to be chief operating officer.
Asher previously was the founding director of
Paragon Fund Services.
She has a bachelor’s degree in finance from
Fairfield University, and she’s on the advisory board for EndowBridge Capital
and Harness All Possibilities.
Aegon Asset Management, a Chicago-based arm of Aegon N.V., has
hired Anne Coupe to be global head of consultant relations and global financial
institutions.
Coupe previously was a managing
director at BMO Global Asset Management
Coupe has a bachelor’s degree in American
government and politics from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree
in business from Duke University.
Zing Health, Chicago, has hired Mete Sahin to be its chief financial
officer.
Zing is a Medicare Advantage plan that’s led
by physicians.
Sahin previously was the CFO at Advance
Health, which merged with CenseoHealth in 2018 to form Signify Health.
He also has been the CFO of XLHealth Corp., a
Medicare Advantage special needs plan operator.
He has a bachelor’s degree from the University
of Southern California in Los Angeles and a master’s degree from the
University of Surrey in England.
