The Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs Company (MCCPDC) is a
new online pharmaceutical wholesaler that cuts out prescription drug middlemen,
purchasing drugs directly from manufacturers in order to provide generic brand
medications to customers at a much cheaper price (often the cheapest price on
the market). MCCPDC doesn’t currently accept insurance and requires its
customers to pay for medication out of pocket, however, the company’s
prescription drugs cost less than most insurance plans’ deductible and copay
requirements. The leukemia drug Imatinib, for example, costs $47 per month
compared to a whopping $9,657 retail, making the new initiative a potentially
lifesaving and welcome fix to a traditionally “broken” area of America’s
healthcare system. MCCPDC
