More than two years since the pandemic began, the US is closing in
on a grim and heartbreaking milestone: 1 million deaths
caused by the coronavirus.
The Globe's Martin Finucane and Ryan Huddle report that the CDC is now
predicting the country's pandemic death toll with surpass 1 million by late
May.
Globally, more than 6.2 million people have died from COVID-19, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
