Centene Corp. last week said it
selected Cigna Corp.’s Express Scripts to serve as its pharmacy benefits
manager, beginning in 2024. "Selecting our future PBM partner represents
a major value creation plan milestone and positions us to capture significant
value for our members, partners, and stakeholders in 2024 and
beyond," CEO Sarah London said in the company’s third-quarter
earnings release. Centene is transitioning
away from its in-house PBM, Envolve, following multiple lawsuits alleging
Centene overcharged state Medicaid programs for prescription drugs. Centene
currently covers 17,144,851 members, with 68.6% enrolled in Medicaid. |
