Washington, D.C. council
members on Oct. 18 voted to award its hotly contested Medicaid contracts to
three payers; Elevance Health’s Amerigroup (a new entrant), AmeriHealth
Caritas and MedStar Health, according to the Washington
Post. Notably absent is CareFirst
Blue Cross Blue Shield, which had been protesting the new contracts for
years. The District currently serves 272,494 Medicaid beneficiaries, entirely
via managed care plans. |
