BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee will remove...
...Oxycontin from its formulary in 2019, in favor of Xtampza and
Morphabond, which are designed to deter opioid abuse. Though both drugs are
more expensive than Oxycontin, the insurer said it will absorb the additional
cost to members. Oxycontin is still one of the most advantaged narcotic
painkillers, and currently holds preferred-tier status for 35% of covered
lives, and 47% including plans that require step therapy.
