Do Your Part to Prevent Rabies

World Rabies Day 2020

Did you know that rabies is still a threat in many areas of the world, including the United States?

In the United States, rabies is mostly found in wild animals like bats, raccoons, skunks, and foxes. It can spread to people and pets if they are bitten or scratched by a rabid animal. Rabies is deadly in pets and people who do not get medical care after being bitten or scratched by a rabid animal. Prevent rabies by vaccinating pets, watching wildlife from a healthy distance, and seeking medical care quickly after potential exposures, before symptoms start.

Prevent rabies by vaccinating pets

September 28 is World Rabies Day

You can help in the fight against rabies:

  • Keep pets and livestock up to date on their annual rabies vaccinations.
  • Spread the word about the importance of rabies vaccination on social media using #WorldRabiesDay, #CollaborateVaccinate, and #Rabies.
  • Learn more about rabies and how to prevent it.

The World Rabies Day 2020 theme is End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate
