Study IDs unapproved drugs in dietary supplements
Research published in the journal Neurology that analyzed 10
over-the-counter dietary supplements that claim to improve cognition found five
unapproved drugs in the products and several other drugs that were not included
on the product labels. Study author Pieter Cohen, M.D., said amounts of
unapproved drugs found in the supplements were up to four times higher than a
typical dose.
