US data show COVID-19 is a leading cause of death
COVID-19 became a leading cause of death in the US, especially for
older adults, when considering data from March through October, researchers
wrote in a viewpoint article published in the Journal of the American Medical
Association. Among people over age 85, researchers wrote, COVID-19 was the No.
2 cause of death, ahead of cancer but behind heart disease.
