The National
DPP was developed in response to the growing rate of diabetes in the U.S.
and the millions of U.S. adults (currently 88 million!) living with prediabetes. The National DPP’s lifestyle
change program is research-based and focuses on healthy eating and physical
activity. Research has shown that people at high risk for type 2 diabetes
who take part in a structured lifestyle change program can reduce their risk
by 58% (71% for people over 60 years old).
